Lady Eliana was introduced to the Grove of Phoenix Rising and the Unicorn Tradition in the Autumn of 1996. Previous to that time she had been an independent practitioner of magick, relying mostly on her own inner voice and intuition, rather than studying with others or following what was available in books. Although she was not familiar with the concept of paganism as such, she did and does believe firmly in the higher powers and in forming a close personal relationship with them. The forms of worship have changed for her over the years, never fully feeling right until her first Circle on Oestara 1997, with the Grove of Phoenix Rising. From that moment she dedicated herself to the Pagan Path, the Unicorn Tradition, and to learning as much as she could from Lady Magdalena and Lord Myrrddin on the road to her Third Degree.

She was introduced to the Grove of Phoenix Rising in the Autumn of 1996, and joined the Pagan Class at Imbolc 1997. During her time with the Grove of Phoenix Rising, Lady Eliana faced many challenges including being a single mother and a Ph.D. student. Through everything, she felt that continuing with the Grove was extremely important and that skills learned there helped in all aspects of her life. She finally completing her Third Degree in the Spring of 2000.

As Lady Eliana studied for her Third Degree(s), she took on a student, who was also her lover and her future husband. Thoth completed his Pagan Class requirements and was dedicated on Litha of 2000. The following week, Lady Eliana and Thoth were handfasted at the covenstead of the Grove of the Unicorn by Lady Magdalena and Lord Myrddin.
