The First Convocation - creation of the core documents of the Unicorn Tradition

In February of 2003, the following invitation was sent out to all Third Degree Initiates of the Unicorn Tradition:

Hear Ye!  Hear Ye!
The Elders of the Unicorn Tradition
Request your presence and participation in
the first convocation of Priests and Priestesses
to be held April 26and 27th, 2003
at Lady Galadriel and Lord Athanor's Temple.

This convocation is not just for group leaders, it is for all Third Degree Initiates of this tradition.  This historical meeting will be laying the groundwork for the future growth and goals of our tradition, and your input, experience and insight as a third degree is invaluable and necessary.

We will be discussing the core beliefs and practices of our Tradition, and crafting both minimum requirements and definitions of what the Unicorn Tradition is and is not, for the 21st Century.  Each and every one of you is important in this process.

Please come help is craft the future of your tradition.

At this Convocation, a Core Documents Committee was formed. They were charged with compiling and distilling the beliefs and characteristics of Unicorn Tradition into a distinct and coherent set of documents that define who we are and what we do.

The document, finalized by the Convocation of Priests and Priestesses 2004, and approved by the members of the Unicorn Tradition at Autumnfest in 2004, is entitled 'The Core Documents of the Unicorn Tradition' or 'What  Makes the Unicorn Tradition Different?'

It is the retention of several core teachings from the Family Tradition that sets us apart from the many other traditions of the Craft. The following are some excerpts from 'The Core Documents of the Unicorn Tradition' that highlight these core aspects of the Tradition.             (from The Journey Begins: The First Twenty-Five Years of the Unicorn Tradition of the Craft, available in the store)
